Become a certified Business Analyst : SAS Certified Young Potentials program (SCYP)

Language: english
Teaching-pilot: Stéphanie Aerts
Type B

Become a certified Business Analyst / Data Scientist! This is the job of the future!

Nowadays, a company must be able to collect, analyze and handle huge volume of data in order to answer managerial questions and/or offer new top value services. Amazon, Google, Facebook are obvious successful stories confirming the importance of data management. The main question is: "How to transform raw "stupid" data into valuable "actionable" information?" This is the job of the Business Analyst.

In order to achieve such a result, the Business Analyst needs powerful tools. SAS Base and SAS Enterprise Guide are the platforms used by leading companies. This portfolio aims to prepare you for the official external certification SAS Certified Base Programmer. Many companies use SAS for their internal analysis, which makes this certification an undeniable added-value to your CV and helps you to secure jobs. Beside, this training should help you for other courses and projects : Statistics, Business Analytics, Marketing Analytics, master thesis...

In this learning, you will not learn new data analysis techniques but you’ll become familiar with SAS programming language, the cornerstone of all SAS platforms, to be able to write your own SAS data analysis codes. More precisely, with this certification in hand, you’ll be able to write your own code to:

  • Import and export raw data files
  • Manipulate and transform data
  • Combines SAS datasets
  • Create basic detail and summary reports using SAS procedures
  • Identify and correct data, syntax and programming logic errors

There is no prerequisite in computer programming needed for this portfolio: indeed, the SCYP program walks you through the steps of learning to write code, which could also help for other courses. But, obviously, you have to be a minimum computer enthusiast to get the best of it. You have to know that the preparation for this hard certification requires a lot of homework, but this is also what makes this certification a real added value on the job market. This portfolio gives you  the opportunity to value your work by obtaining credits, as well as opportunities to practice besides this theoretical certification.“

Professional co-development : Rely on the group to improve your practice (STAG)

Language: English
Pilot-teachers: David Homburg et Simon Tonon
Type A
Note: This workshop is intended for students in their traineeship or in their project-thesis. If you are NOT on traineeship or in your project thesis on the second quadrimester 2019-2020, please DO NOT register for this workshop. The schedule (4 Saturday mornings) is made to allow trainees to follow the workshop.

Since you entered school, you have been surrounded by people whose aim was to educate you, to train you, to give you skills: parents, teachers, educators, professors… all these people are there to make sure that you learn.

As you are about to enter your professional life, you get ready – probably quite eagerly – to take the plunge, to leave the educative system. However, you are not done with learning: be it on your demand or on your employer’s, many coaches, mentors and trainers will still pop up in your life to provide you with new skills and help you evolve. Their interventions will nonetheless be occasional, motivated by a third person, and generally expensive.

Yet, there is a coach who is free and deeply concerned with your own objectives: you. And he can be assisted by many other consultants who are easily available and want to share their expertise: your colleagues.

This workshop will make you acquainted with the technique of professional co-development, creating a group of professional support and advice made of peers. By using this method on your traineeship experience, it will help you to optimize your learning in the last months of your studies, and provide you with useful tools to evolve in your career.
