Masters and Executive Degrees outside working hours

We offer:

Special Masters

An Executive Masters in Financial Risk Management

Specializing in Analysis, Control and Audit

Why?

The development of management and control techniques, as well as the extension of the application field of legal control to meet European norms, requires in-depth knowledge of the fields of audit, control and accounting analysis, as well as continuous updates.

How?

The program covers the internal and external control of a company and the auditing role, seen in a pragmatic way by specialists in the field. It completes the training in applied economic sciences so as to cover the majority of subjects outlined by the Belgian Institute of Company Auditors, and allows some exemptions from admission exams to the audit internship if all the courses required by the Belgian Chartered Auditors' Federation (IRE) have been successfully completed. This training is also recognized by the Luxemburg Chartered Auditors' Federation (IRE), which also grants certain exemptions.

Specializing in Finance

Why?

Financial products are increasingly sophisticated and financial engineering tools are increasingly elaborate. The globalization of capital markets only increases the complexity of the problems encountered. Every day, financial managers are faced with issues relating to hedging currency risk and interest rate risk. The finance program's primary aim is to teach students an understanding of the different financial markets (international, forward, options …) and advanced techniques of financial management such as optimal portfolio management.

How?

The course is simultaneously theoretical and practical.  All the theoretical elements are illustrated by concrete cases. It includes the quantitative aspects (modeling, algorithms …) of the mechanics of financial products and management methods. IT tools and multimedia technology are also used. HEC-ULg is particularly pleased to make available the "PriceWaterhouse Coopers Stock Market Room" a truly top class financial simulation tool. It is a room equipped with the best financial information interfaces, including a Bloomberg terminal, and stock market transaction simulation modules.

Executive Masters in Fiscal Law

Why?

Taxation is an especially heavy burden for enterprises and individual taxpayers. Taxation is also a determining factor in management decisions. Tax is a cost which has to be properly managed by the director of a business and his or her advisors.  All tax incidences must be measured, because they often determine the economic validity of management decisions. International taxation plays an even more important role within the large European market and with the globalization of the economy. The complexity and rapid evolution of this subject justifies, if this were needed, the necessity of specific training and updating.

How?

The program covers Belgian, European and international taxation, looked at in a pragmatic way by specialists in the field. Taxation law changes frequently. Therefore all specialists must not only have a solid knowledge base but must also update their knowledge regularly. That is why update seminars dealing with recent reforms are part of this training program.

Program

Masters in Management Sciences with a specialist option in general management.

Why?

Many young graduates acquire advanced technical knowledge in their specialty during their studies at university. However, they rarely have the business and team management tools which would allow them to respond better to the demands of the employment market or to create their own business.

This program gives them complete management training, a global vision of business and updates their knowledge in the key fields of management.  It gives them management techniques which maximize their efficiency and ability to take on new responsibilities.

How?

The training uses active and pragmatic methods: interactive workshops in small groups, case studies, e-learning… These methods aim to give students the tools of the trade, but also aims to teach them how to use those tools. To ensure high-quality training, HEC-ULg has chosen teachers recognized for their first-class scientific and teaching skills, and specialists in the field whose daily professional activities ensure the constant updating of knowledge.

Special Masters in Environmental Management

Why?

Respecting and safeguarding the environment are today's priorities, both for the public and for businesses.

This is one of the pillars of the sustainable development project at the federal level. In addition, under the Walloon decree on waste, businesses must now integrate environmental management into their agendas.

They will therefore need environmental specialists to guide them and advise them through this process. A university education that covers the technical as well as managerial aspects of the environment is therefore necessary.

Who for?

This program trains environmental experts, called environmental coordinators by the Walloon government.

It is aimed at:

  • All staff in an enterprise, an organism or an administration, who already have technical or commercial training and who want to acquire the knowledge necessary to manage the environment
  • Anyone hoping to change career paths and work in the environmental field.

With this training, they can meet the demands of regional, national and European policies on the environment.  They will therefore be the resource persons in this field within their company or administration.

How?

This training aims to be very concrete, using case studies, site visits, role-plays and interactivity between students and teaching staff.

A majority of professors are also employed in the field of the environment.

Since January 2009, the Federal Council of Surveyors (conseil fédéral des géomètres-experts) has recognized the modules "Environmental Law" and "Earth, Water, Air" as training for surveyors.
