New international recognition by the GARP (Global Association of Risk Professionals) for HEC Liège and its Master in Business Engineering, with a specialization in Financial Engineering
HEC Liege - Management School of the Université of Liège has just been certified "Financial Risk Manager" (FRM) by the GARP (Global Association of Risk Professionals) for its Master in Management Engineering with a specialism in "Financial Engineering". As such, the School becomes one of the academic partners of the GARP’s international network.
This certification completes the list of international distinctions received by HEC Liège in the field of financial education. In 2016, the School already became a member of the "University Recognition Program" of the CFA Institute, a distinction obtained for its Master in Management, with a specialization in Banking & Asset Management.
Recognized in every major market, the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation is the leading certification for risk managers. It is consistently sought after worldwide by all major banks and firms active in risk management, and is only awarded to professionals who have demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the quantitative methods in use in this field.
To obtain this certification, HEC Liège had to demonstrate that its program covers at least 70% of the technical aspects of level I and 100% of the ethical aspects. HEC Liège therefore prepares students who are in a 'Finance' Master's program to take the professional certification examinations of level I in the best conditions and at a lower cost.
“We are very pleased to have the Master in Business Engineering degree program offered by HEC Liège Management School as a member of GARP’s Partnership for Risk Education. The Financial Engineering specialization is a comprehensive program that provides detailed knowledge of the best practices in financial risk management with a practice-oriented approach. The program is well designed to prepare its students to meet the rising demand for risk management professionals, offering them a solid foundation for pursuing the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation as well,” said William May, Senior Vice President – Global Head of Certifications and Educational Programs, GARP.
Dr. Julien HAMBUCKERS, professor of finance in charge of the Financial Engineering specialization, underlines: "This is a great opportunity for HEC Liège students because the added value of this international certification for employers is high. They are assured that the students are prepared for the requirements of the global financial sector and acquire a first-rate quantitative background. Thanks to our participation in this program, we will receive several annual scholarships that will enable students to take the GARP examinations at a lower cost.”
