General data :
Biography: Célina Thonus recently obtained her degree in Banking and Asset Management at HEC Liège. She is starting this year a PhD and is Teaching assistant. She is part of the Asset & Risk management research field. Her research will mainly focus on the study of corporate control index and firm performance. A lot of indices have been proposed to measure the relative power of shareholders of organizations. But most of these indices neglect the free float and fail to integrate the potential effect of coalition of small shareholders. Those indices also deal with one layer of shareholders while in practice, they can encounter more complex, multi-layered ownership structures. In this regard, Yves Crama & Luc Leruth propose to use the Z index as an alternative measure. The aim of her thesis is to validate the utility of the Z index by demonstrating that this index can explain part of the firm’s performance. She will also work on determining the portfolio allocation and the cost of capital of entrepreneurial projects. The idea is to investigate the project’s hurdle rate of an entrepreneur given their specific investment and financing constraints. The promotor of her Phd is Georges Hübner.
