Biography: : Hugues is a member of the research team of the Asset and Risk Management Department of HEC Management School - University of Liège. He is a teaching assistant of financials markets and international financial economics courses. His current PhD research topic is: Risk, performance and cost management in the African Securities Exchange and Settlement and Depositories Institutions ». He focuses on securities market, particularly in post-trade and stock exchange efficiency and integration. More specifically, on the understanding of the efficiency of stock exchange and post-trade institutions in Africa and the development of securities markets in Africa. He works under the supervision of Pr. A. Muller (HEC-ULg). His research interests are: African Stock exchange, International Central securities depositories (Euroclear and clearstream), central securities depositories in Africa and Middle East, Global custodians and their contribution to the development of the African financial markets. He graduated from high school in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in 1994. As he discovered his passion for Finance and Management at a young age, it was clear to him to pursue his career in this field. He started his undergraduate studies at the University of Dschang (Cameroon), where he obtained his Bachelor in Business Management in 1997 and Master in Finance (with Thesis) in 2003. Instead of continuing with theoretical studies, he decided to broaden his horizon by discovering companies where Finance management could be applied; the aim was to practice courses learnt at school. In 2000 when he was writing his Master of Science thesis, he was recruited as Chief Financial Officer in a company of the food industry. He discovered a lot in his eight year capacity as Chief Financial Officer in food, construction and civil engineering companies in Cameroon. In 2007, he joined HEC- Management School of the University of Liege where he obtained an advanced Master degree in Financial Risk Management. He learned of the existence of clearing, settlement and custody matters during his internship at Euroclear Bank Belgium in the 2009-2010 academic year. As a researcher, Hugues has also taken part as a member of several commissions of defence of Master thesis
